How to lock scooter steering wheel?

To answer the common question about how to lock the scooter steering wheel, we have prepared a short guide. Not only that, we will also answer the questions regarding the secure boot under the seat. Stay with us and learn how to operate your scooter!

One of the first steps to make is to determine, which model do you have. It might seem unimportant, but depending on that, different rules might apply to your vehicle. From there, this handy guide that comes next should answer all of your questions.

Step by step – How to lock scooter steering wheel

As we have mentioned before, first comes determining the model of your scooter. If you own either ZT15, ZT63, FASTER or CRISTAL model, then the option of locking steering wheel is available to you.

The process of locking is very simple:

  1. First you have to turn the steering wheel to the left side. In case of ZT63 you might want to try to move it slightly about.
  2. While having done so, with the ignition key in the lock, you have to press it in and then turn it counter-clockwise.
  3. Congratulations, you have successfully managed to lock the steering wheel.

The process of unlocking the steering wheel is likewise simple, by just using the ignition key.

How to lock and unlock secure compartment and lockbox

This one is a bit more tricky, because there are differences depending on the model you have.

In the case of the models ZT15 and FASTER, apart from the ignition key, you would have received one that is used to open it. To do so, simply put the key in the lock on the back of the scooter and turn it, which will open the compartment for you.

If you have our CRISTAL or ZT63 model though, the secure compartment is opened by the ignition key into the main ignition lock and turn it counter-clockwise without pressing it in, as that is used to lock the steering wheel as mentioned above.

If your scooter comes with a secure lockbox in the back, the only key to be used is the one that you have received alongside the ignition key.

When booked test drive of mobility scooter?

If you are considering purchase of any electric scooter, it is when test drive comes in handy. Are you a first time buyer? You want to see if the vehicle is fit for you? The choice can be made easier by booking a test drive option from our site.

When a test drive is something you would like to try, you can do so easily. At Velobike we understand fully that such products are bought once for years to come. It is not a decision to make lightly and many of our customers can have plenty of questions.

How to book a test drive from Velobike? — Handy guide

How does it work? Once you book a test drive, you will be paying 100 pounds deposit. The order is received by us and then the scooter is being assembled.

Once that is done, between 3 and 9 working days in the UK or 5 and 12 in the EU, our driver will deliver the scooter for you to test. This way you will be able to check whether it meets your expectations before deciding to purchase.

  1. Find the product you would like check in our shop.
  2. Enter the product page.
  3. You will notice a navy blue “Home demonstration”. Click it.
  4. In the window that shows up, fill in your billing details so that we know where to deliver the scooter.

  5. Fill in the card details, it will cost you only £50! Then once done, click the “Submit payment” button.

Congratulations, you have just ordered the test drive. The driver will be with you in between 3 and 9 working days (UK) or 5 and 12 working days (EU).

Remember, the £50 aren’t refundable, however if you decide to buy the scooter after the test drive, the £50 you have already paid will be deducted from the full price.

What should you know after booking one?

When test drive is booked, you can expect a newly assembled scooter to be delivered up to your doorstep. This machine was assembled just for you, no one else had tested it as it is a brand-new vehicle.

On top of that, our driver will be there to answer all of your questions regarding the usage of this scooter, so you will be able to learn anything you might be curious about.

Remember, that test drive option is amongst top 5 questions asked by customers when buying electric scooter!

Do you wonder if you need a CBT test for moped?

Often we are met with questions regarding driving license or a CBT test for moped that can reach up higher speed of 27 mph. In our humble opinion, there is nothing more enjoyable and liberating than to travel around UK on moped. Want to know the answer? Read this article.

At the top speed of 30 mph those vehicles are quite fun and quick, however they indeed do need CBT test for moped or a driving license as they fall under the AM category. While our mopeds are as powerful as any 50cc mopeds, they are more eco-friendly as they don’t use gas but electricity.

The CBT stands for Compulsory Basic Training. In lieu of not having a full driving license, you would need to go and sit your CBT exam. This course will be a proof that you can handle the basics of riding a bike. While it will come with some limitations, a CBT will allow you to ride vehicles similar to a 50cc moped to more or less its full potential.

Can mopeds be used by 16 years old and can they do CBT test for moped?

Certainly! The CBT test for moped is just a quick course. It can be completed by any UK citizen that is 16 years of age in just few hours. The purpose of this course is to just teach new users of such vehicles. Doing the course you will learn how to stay safe on the road and is in no way hard to do.

After you’ve completed CBT, you can ride any of our mopeds on roads and because they can reach the speed of 27 mph (ca. 43 km/h), you can even drive them on dual carriageway. The CBT does come with some limitations:

  • You are limited to a top speed of 28 mph (ca. 45 km/h) at the age of sixteen.
  • You are not able to go on the motorway.
  • Cannot pick up any kind of passenger. You are allowed to carry items, but not people. For this you would need motorbike driving license.
  • The L plates that you are provided with will have to stay on until further notice.

Many times over we look back at products like FASTER mobility scooter and ponder: What could we do better? How can we cater to our customers? Many times, a question pops up when our customers contact customer support: Is the battery removable? Now we can say it is!

Since many of you wanted this, we came forward to met your expectations with FASTER mobility scooter! This model is now equipped with Lithium-Ion battery. What does that mean for you as our customers? Now you will be able to pick a slightly better option when buying, coming with more powerful battery that can be removed and charged at home.

Why would you want a Lithium-Ion battery?

There are numerous reasons why you would want your FASTER mobility scooter equipped with this kind of battery. Compared to the usual Lead-Acid, the Li-Ion batteries last much longer, while also being much lighter. This means however, that they need to be charged for longer but less frequent.

The Lithium-Ion batteries also perform better in cold temperatures, so depending on where you live, it might be more preferable and efficient option just for you.

They have very good life cycle, as they usually last about two to three years or 300 to 500 charge cycles, whichever occurs first. Be mindful that one charge cycle is a period of use from fully charged, to fully discharged, and fully recharged again.
